Reese's dance pictures

Reese had dance pictures yesterday. We were to have her look like she would for the recital...hair, make up, special tights etc. There was NO way I was going to do her hair by myself so I called and had it put up. Her hair is fine but she has a lot of it so I knew I would stress out and mess it up. I put a tiny bit of make up on her and she felt like a star. But putting that fancy costume on her was priceless. She twirled and danced and loved every second of it.

Here are a few pictures of my ballerina.

Zoo with Boo

Boo and Ott (my dad and step mom) could not make Saige's birthday party. Since they don't see her as often because of the drive we decided doing something fun, one on one would be fun for her-and them. My dad thought about going to the zoo and of course the girls were THRILLED! We got to see all the animals, eat a picnic lunch together (Boo even brought cupcakes and a special gift for Saige!), ride the carousal, and the train. The girls had a wonderful fun day and were beyond wiped out when we got home!

Happy Mother's Day!

I sometimes feel like I should celebrate Aaron on Mother's Day. I even thought about making him a poster to show how much we love and support him during the busiest weekend at the restaurant. But I couldn't decide if that was weird and decided against it. I was thinking about fun things we could do this year to make Mother's Day fun, different and maybe just maybe memorable. I had a thought that since it was going to be my mom, sister and girls we should be girly. Then I thought about how fun it would be to do something girly on Mother's day since Aaron will never really be around. We can do things we wouldn't normally do with him. So I decided to celebrate Mother's Day in a girly way and will do so from this day on.

Aaron woke up early and had the girls take me to get donuts. They gave me a very cute card with their sweet little voices recorded and a coffee mug and frame where they wrote on it. It was perfect and very thoughtful! It is now my favorite mug!!!!

We went to church, lunch at Aaron's and then we went to Tutti Frutti. It was SO good! I got a cheese cake yogurt with fresh strawberries. Reese got something pink and Saige ended up with a tart blueberry (surprising!). We went home for naps and BOTH girls napped...yay! We then went to get pedi's. We were walking in and Saige was so excited she didn't see the sidewalk curb and it hit her shins and she fell down causing her toe and knee to bleed. Ouch! But true to form, was good in 5 minutes.

The girls went in and picked their colors and got to sit in a chair and get their feet scrubbed, lotion, toes trimmed and painted. They were SO happy! Saige was so still and loved every single second of it. Reese must of asked the girl a million questions. They just giggled at my girls and really did their nails up. They both got glitter and flowers added to their fingers and toes. Precious!

Kara and I snuck in a really awesome run today also! BEST day ever! My girly day thing is a hit and we will enjoy this new tradition for years to come I hope!

Three years!

It is hard to believe Saige has been with us for only three years. It honestly feels longer...and in some ways it feels like it was just yesterday. I will never ever forget her cry or the way she looked being handed to me. I knew we had a strong willed baby pretty early on. She smiled at us so early, talked unbelievably early, and walked early. She has always been so smart and so fun. She is not shy about letting us know what she wants and doesn't want. She makes us laugh and makes us want to cry. She is very much MY child. She doesn't think before she acts and her temper is off the charts. But she is so sweet and caring and loves being right under my feet. I cannot wait for what the next year will bring. She is truly a gift from the Lord and I am humbled every day that HE chose ME to be her Mommy. Thank you Father for this precious child!

Ok, now 10 fun facts about Saige Kara Denune
1) She plays with babies 24/7. Nothing else matters. She gets them ready, changes their diaper, places them on her hip and gives them all their own names. Most start with an "A" and are copied from the babies we know in real life.
2) OBSESSED with the color pink is an understatement. Every article of clothing must be pink. She especially likes fluffy skirts and strappy tops. She also loves glitzy shoes.
3) She still has a paci. I know, I know....
4) She still asks me if she can sleep on top of me. When she was a baby that was the ONLY place she would sleep. She still loves it.
5) riding her new pink Barbie bike is a favorite outside activity
6) Saige literally memorizes every one's names, husbands names, pets name. It is very strange but yet impressive.
7) Her attention to detail is also impressive. She knows if you have something new on, she knows how some of MY friends sit, their shoes...seriously crazy!
8) She isn't a picky eater but doesn't eat much either.
9) Still does not like T.V. She will sit and watch the "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" dvd but that is it.
10) She is a loud, outgoing child but when people are watching her or she comes into a new situation she clams up and becomes shy.

Here are some fun pictures over the last three years.

The Diva

Yesterday while riding bikes Saige fell down and got a bloody knee. She was wearing a new pink tutu skirt and a strappy pink shirt. She had on her fancy flip flops, and a pink flower headband. When I picked her up I just knew for sure she was crying about her knee hurting. She says "Don't let that blood get on my new skirt." Once the band-aid was applied she went right back to riding.

Today, the day before her birthday she is sick. She started crying all the sudden saying she was cold. Sure enough, she had chill bumps all over her legs and arms. We put something warmer on and she seemed happy. I took her temp but it was normal. I placed her on the couch with her favorite pillow and her pink Dora blanket and she watched tv. An hour later her temp was 103! I just knew better since she sat still for an hour. ha! But later, after some motrin, she says "I think I need some lipstick."

I have a full blown diva on my hands folks!

Mother's Day Tea

Reese and Saige's school had their Mother's Day Tea yesterday. Reese's class sang a song, made a place mat with their finger prints and we enjoyed some tea and a brownie. Reese also made me a pin to wear that was shaped as a heart.

Saige's class made us a flower pin and we ate a brownie and had tea. I was lucky to enjoy two yummy brownie's. Saige has made me a flower pot with her picture on it. It was, of course, colored pink.

It was a sweet!

Saige's Third Birthday Party

We could not decide on what to do for Saige's birthday. Park? Place? Home? It always falls on Mother's Day weekend and with Aaron's job that makes things tricky. We also put the girls in t-ball this year, which I didn't think mattered since the games are so short and so few but it was right smack in the middle of her birthday month. Grr...the last few years we did a smaller party for her but this year we decided to invite her friends and make it a party. I laughed at one point and told Aaron that we (I) have done too much work for a three year old. We tried to keep the guest list to people that she knows well and interacts with on a regular basis...and even that added up :) We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family in our lives that love and care for our kids.

Saige is obsessed with the color pink and all things girly. A friend of mine suggested to have a Pinkalicious birthday party. I asked Saige and she was so excited to have that as her theme. We got a pinkalicious cake...

I made marshmallow pops for the table, we had pink lemonade, a fruit tray, pizza, and salad. I set up the cake table with glass containers of pink candy.

I made a "craft table" with borrowed flowers and chalkboard stickers and colored chalk. We also added streamers and balloons and Aaron wanted the "extra" streamers. :) We did star cookies as the party favor.

We got a bounce house and snow cone machine for the birthday party. The kids basically stayed outside the whole time. We sang Happy Birthday, ate cake and opened gifts. It was a wonderful day! Saige got the GIRLY gifts I have ever seen...tons of purses, lip gloss, baby stuff, shoes and tutu skirts. As I type this out the girls have eye shadow and lip gloss and are playing beauty shop! :)

and one of our little family!
