Saige's Fall Field Trip

 

Saige's preschool went on their field trip to the Oil Ranch this year again. The kids had such a great time. They rode horses, played in hay, pet animals, milked a cow (or watched it being milked), rode a truck to feed cows (my personal favorite), and rode a train. All the kids got a pumpkin in the end. We got a special treat because Saige's best buddy Lilah was there with her school also. We snapped a quick picture of the girls as we were walking out.

 

 

 

Halloween Costume # 1 and fall baking

Saige wanted to be a tooth fairy for Halloween this year. Thankfully it was SO easy to make. I used Reese's old ballet dress and we added a few details. Here's a peek...

 

And we made mini pumpkin pies. YUMMMM!!! They were delish! We were protesting the 88 degree weather with some fall yummies.

 

 

What are Saige and I up to

On our days off of school Saige and I stay pretty busy. We do her activities on Mondays and that leaves Wednesday and Fridays to clean, run errands, etc. It has become pretty busy to say the least. I'm enjoying having a little one on one time with Saige but I'm not sure she feels the same way. She asks who is going to be with her a lot and gets bored playing by herself after a little while. She's not used to be being by herself this much.

We have played at the park, fed, the ducks, had yummy treats, I let her ride in the car cart at the store, take her to lunch, and we play with her friend a lot.

Kindergarten update

Reese has started to really enjoy school. We have had a few more bumps but everything is running smooth now. She is enjoying learning and has started to read a little. She tries to read words wherever she sees them. She is starting to write notes and stories. When I taught first grade seeing the light bulb come on was one of my favorite parts but seeing it in your OWN child is priceless.

She also reads a lot now. Some is pretend reading and some is reading small books. Either way is great with me.

 

She had a career day at school (where they could dress up but bring NO props) and Reese wanted to be a librarian. We made a shirt since there isn't a costume to go with that. She was happy and told me everyone loved it. You could tell she was proud.

 

We have our first parent teacher conference this week. Can't wait to see her work and hear how she's doing.

Happy Birthday Reese

We celebrated Reese's SIXTH birthday last month. I always heard "time passes so fast. Enjoy every second." But those words have new meaning with my sweet girl off to school. I love this girl so much. She is super sweet, caring, animal loving, sugar addict.

We had several mini celebrations this year instead of a big party. We had my dad and Donna over one Saturday for pizza and cupcakes. They brought mini cupcakes so the kids wouldn't eat a big one and of course Reese had like ten mini ones. :) They bought her a zoo lego hit which was a huge hit.

On her actual birthday we took her to Houston's BRAND NEW American Girl store. She was in hog heaven looking at all the dolls. It was a big treat for Reese. She chose the McKenna doll who does gymnastics just like Reese. The doll even looked a tad like her. So cute.

For her friends party we let her have a Lion King slumber party. She was so excited! We had Claire and Lilah and her two cousins Kammy and Reagan over. The girls did silly string, a fashion show, Momo did their toes (in animal print no less). We played Wii dance, and ate cake, popcorn and pizza. They played an animal game and just played pretend like little girls do.

 

Then Nana, Papaw, Momo, Charlie, and Aunt KK came over to see the birthday girl. Aunt Kara gave Reese this silly face book. Kara chose the more boyish looking one because it looked more fun than the girly one. Well, some of the faces looked a tiny bit creepy and Halloweenish. Reese did not really like it. Her eyes got big and she quietly said "thank you" but you could tell she did NOT like it. We laughed so hard at her reaction. You had to be there I guess.

Saige had meet the teacher this week. She is very excited and had a great time getting to play with her friends and see her classroom. I've taken a part time job at her school and let me tell ya, working part time, being a mommy, and adjusting to kindergarten have sort of rocked my world this week. But Saige loves me being there and is such a helper. Love this silly thing.

Start to Kindergarten

We did Reese's favorite meal and I set the table up for a back to school dinner. We prayed for Reese and ate some yummy food. Salad, cheese ravioli, and fruit. Reese had three bowls full. We got her bathed, read three back to school books and ready for bed. She said her tummy felt funny. :)

 

In the morning I made her pancakes with bananas. We got dressed and at her request we curled her hair. She looked so big and so cute.

 

 

Right before we were leaving I let her sit on the couch and watch tv. After a couple of minutes she says "mommy" looking at me with BIG sad eyes and said "I don't want to go to kindergarten." We tried a pep talk but tears soon followed. Aaron tried to step in and she ran from him when we went to get her in the car. She cried all the way (five minutes) to school. Reese hopped from side to side when we tried to get her out. It was the saddest thing ever. I felt so bad for her. We got her settled down some on the walk to school. Inside the classroom she seemed ok, not happy but ok. I took a couple of pictures and left.

 

 

We have had some stories this week and I think my heart is still a little tender with having her gone all day. After four days she finally came home and said she loved it. Kindergarten is truly a transition for our whole family. I'm very happy our first weekend is coming.

 

Girls day!

A friend and I took our older girls to a "girly day" before school starts. We went to Sweet N Sassy and got very pampered. The girls had NO idea where we were going so it was a big surprise. This is them in the parking lot trying to figure it out.

 

 

 

 

We had a to wait for a few minutes so we played in their merchandise before going.

 

 

Their stylist was named Ms. Rainbow and was decked ALL out. I think Reese was a tad scared at first but quickly warmed up to her. She washed their hair with strawberry shampoo (Claire chose chocolate). The girls got a little trim and she styled it for them. She sprayed these sweet things down with hairspray, glitter, and perfume. They could NOT stop looking at themselves in the mirror.

Next was their pedi. Zebra toes and a toe ring too. They picked cotton candy lotion for their legs.

The girls kept saying what's next... well, a mani of course. The girls got a fancy ring and fun glitter stamps on their face.

 

Then we took the girls to eat a cupcake.

 

We had a great day pampering this little blessing.

They had a blast and now they are all shiny and ready for school. It was so much fun getting to spend the day with these sweet babies.
