Daddy's Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every night when the girls here the sound of the door opening they scream "daddy's home". This night I was trying to take Reese's picture. She had begged me to take it. I was going to but had no intention of really using it for anything. Just playing around. Usually the delay on my camera drives me bonkers. Tonight it was perfect. I was taking her picture, hit the button and she heard the door open. She turned and ran towards her daddy. Look at this priceless smile she has for him.

Its good being a girl!!!

I was cleaning up our room and the girls were playing. SO I THOUGHT!! It was very very quiet so I went to find out what they were doing. Heres what I found.





They got into my make up and went to town with the lipstick. I know Reese did her own but I'm not sure if Saige did hers or not. Here's some sweet pictures of my girls. They sure do love make up.








Saige also likes to dress herself. She goes and finds panties and a certain shirt and shoes. Very stylish. Here was this days combo! She thought she had done a great job!!

Saige 2 year appt

Saige went to see the doctor today for her 2 year appt. We hadn't been to see him since NOVEMBER with either girl! They've been sick but it was only virus's. I've also learned not to run to him every time we have a fever since its ALWAYS a virus. Go us!!

Saige is tall. Shes still holding the 85% in height and 60% in weight. She still has a big head also. Must be holding that smart brain of hers. She got a shot today and after started crying but said "I don't want that lady to do that again" over and over. We gave her a sticker and a sucker and she calmed down.

But there was more bad news for poor Saige. I mentioned to the good doctor that she eats chalk and crayons ALL.THE.TIME!! She eats them like candy. No kidding. Her poop will be colored and there will literally be chunks of crayon or chalk in her butt. SICK!!!!!!! We had to go to the lab and get her blood taken to check for iron. :( Poor Saige. She did not like that one bit. I held her down, the nurse held her arm and the other one took her blood. She is so strong too! She fought us!!

But after another sucker, a happy meal and a good nap she was good to go again.

Reese

Reese is at that age where she tells you exactly what she thinks and she also mispronounces certain words and it is so adorable. Here's a few stories...

Yesterday she walked in from playing outside with my mom and Saige. I had cleaned up the house and even used Windex.
Reese "whats that smell?"
me "what smell"
Reese "it smells really bad"
Me (getting offended) "No it doesn't! I cleaned"
Reese "I think it smells like butt in here"
Me -burst into laughter and said no it doesn't!! (wondering why shes heard the term smells like butt"
Then Reese walks over to me and for some reason hands me the toys in her hand. A tiny little Ariel doll from Target. Her hair is gone and shes not wearing a tale. Shes been outside for a while. AND SMELLED...like butt! It was awful! I have no idea why she smelled that bad but we quickly threw her away and washed our hands.

I was thankful it wasn't my house that smelled like butt.



Another cute thing is that when we were at the doctor we got into an elevator. We had to get in another one and the waiting area in front was really crowded and Reese said "Are we going in that alligator" again. I was confused but then I understood what she was saying. So precious

Manners...

Saige is a lively two year old to say the least. She is in the habit of saying

nope
yeah
yep

She doesn't say these things to be rude but just says them. Saige would you like some more milk? Nope. It drives Aaron bonkers. He wants them to be polite and respectful. So do I but these little words kill him. We have been working on yes and no along with please and thank you. She has thank you down but won't ever say please.

Summer cuts

Here are some pictures of Reese's haircut. I decided to get brave and go short with her. I always see little girls with super short cute hair so I thought we can do that! Besides her hair grows so fast that we won't have any problem growing it back out. Nana came over to help me with it. She was nervous to cut it as short as I wanted though so I offered to take the first cut and then she could just cut everything to that length. You should of seen her face when I first cut that piece off. I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She was afraid Aaron would get mad at her. :) He didn't! Although he did admit he likes longer hair better but it is SO cute!!









Saige also got a trim. Not nearly as exciting. She has thin hair as well. I hope it thickens up some.

Swim Lessons Part 2

But Reese has come SO FAR! Its amazing!! She went from being totally afraid of the water to putting her head under and swimming (very) short distances. She still needs to practice kicking her legs more but I know the more we do it the better she'll get. I see many many practice sessions at our neighborhood pool. I never thought I'd be so happy to say we have one to use. Reese is also practicing holding her breath. She isn't great at that part and will drink large amounts of water. Her tummy swells up so much she almost looks 9 months pregnant. It slightly freaks me out.

Saige's lessons were more or less a waste. She is still not ready. She didn't like any of the exercises the teacher had her do but I don't really mind. I was more concerned about Reese. Saige will let us put floaties and that funny looking suit of her and she has a ball! If she isn't wearing the suit/floaties she thinks she can swim and goes right under. We had to save her life twice yesterday. It was a little scary one time because I looked away for one second and the next my poor baby is under the water bobbing up and down. Luckily it was only a second and Saige is so strong willed that it didn't phase her at all. She didn't even cough because she is so good at holding her breath. LOL!

Swim lessons are over but we plan to practice practice practice! I'm so proud of Reese!

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to the best daddy ever!! He is so good with the girls and loves us all so much. We are so blessed to have him in our lives.

Reese picked him out a lion card and even wrote her name all by herself. :) We also got him so golf balls and two shirts. We had a nice family dinner on Wednesday and ate brownies. It was great!

The turtle

Tonight Kara and I took the girls to eat at Pappasitos. As we were eating a young woman comes by and ask if the girls would like a balloon animal. Reese and Saige's eye lit up. She does Reese's first. Reese asked for a giraffe. It had a long neck and was rather big.


Saige waited patiently and her eyes were eager for hers. She asked for a blue turle. (very specific haha) The girl starts making hers and when she was finished it was tiny! It was meant to be a braclet type of one.



The look on Saige's face went from eager and excited to utterly disappointed. She looked at the lady and shook her head and said NO BIG! She knew that hers was little and that upset her. It was so sad but also funny. She had the worst look on her face and kept saying NO BIG NO BIG! Then she looked at me and said "I'm in a bad mood"




We all started laughing! Saige's mood lightened up a little but she was still upset. She tried to pop her balloon. She wanted nothing to do with it. Lucky for us that we ordered ice cream and it arrived right after the turtle so all ended well.

Prayers

Tonight we were sitting on the couch and needed to pray about something. Aaron and I prayed and as we were finished Saige took her little hands, folded them, bowed her head and started saying her own prayer. I happened to have my phone in my hand so I took a picture without her knowing.

Adorable!!!!!!! I love seeing this. I pray that we can always be an example to the girls. That when something good or bad happens we hit our knees first in prayer either thanking God or asking for His help.

Learning fun!!

We have been working HARD on letter sounds. We made an ABC book from www.notimeforflashcards.com It is so cute. We did things like make the T look like a tiger. We had glitter from one end of the house to the other. Glue everywhere. It was really fun though.


As we were finishing her book we had just done W is for watermelon. I then said "what letter did we do" ...she said "W" and then I said what sound does it make and she goes "D D Double U" (not sure how to spell that out?) I said no...its W W (making the sound) so she goes "W W Waindrops" (it was raining outside and Reese can't say her R's)


Saige even made a color book. She now knows almost all of her colors. Dr. Pielop will be proud. He asked at Reese's 2 year appt if she knew her colors and I freaked because she didn't. We worked on them after that but now Saige knows them. I was super excited.

Reese my big girl!!

Reese is slowly turning into a little girl and not a toddler-ish girl she once was. She has taken a liking to "girl music." We normally listen to KSBJ or princess cd's in the car. We also like veggie tales but really all we (I) get to hear is kid music. Around Christmas I bought a Barlow Girl Cd and honestly didn't overly care for it. It has been in the disc changer since christmas. I accidently hit that button and Reese heard the music and was in love. Think Hannah Montana sounding but with christian words. Its actually not so bad after hearing it 100 times.


She has also found Barbies. I loved Barbies when I was little. Loved to fix their hair, dress them, play with them. I played with them for a very very long time too. Reese went to the store and wanted one. She hasn't put her down since and even asked for a Barbie birthday. I don't know if I'm ready for that. I wanted her to like the princess stuff a little bit longer. Cry!!


And lastly she said something today that made me laugh and broke my heart. We went to play with a sweet friend today who has a slightly older daughter. Reese loves her. Its pretty funny. But on the way to play she said "I wonder what kind of shirt she will have one?" I thought WHAT? Why is she worrying about peoples clothes? I'm not looking foward to THIS part of having girls. I only pray that I can teach them not to be too focused on clothes and material possessions. UGH!

VBS Fun!

We have been going to my friend Aimee's church's VBS. We have had a great time so far. The kids all worship before with fun songs and hand motions to go with them. They dance around...totally cute. Reese was a little shy at first but the second night she was clapping and dancing along. Awesome! Then the kids go into another (air conditioned) room for their bible lesson and snack. There are a few fun games for the kids outside as well. I think going on a bear hunt is their favorite by far!

Potty Training Woes

I am not a fan of potty training. I keep saying I'm going to bite the bullet and just do it but something always comes up. Its so hard to just stay home all day. Saige is pretty ready too. She will pee on her potty at any time but its the holding her bladder that gets her. She just pees on anything at any time. I'm sure if we stayed home and worked on it that things would get better. I just haven't felt like doing it yet.

But lately this is how we see Saige. She strips herself down to nothing (notice the flip flops though!) and walks around. She has also had some accidents on my floor due to her nakedness and me not always knowing until its too late.

(and yes, my backyard does look this bad. We haven't planted anything in the spots of our sad dead plants from winter and weeds are growing. We'll get to it ...someday!)

Trip to the pet store

Wednesday night when it was time for dinner Saige wanted to sit on my lap and eat. I wasn't in the mood to fight her so I let her. She didn't want to eat and I encouraged her to do so. We ate chicken, potatoes and green beans. Nothing weird.

After dinner we hurried and got in the car to get some new food for Hannah. We've been there a lot trying new foods to help her allergies so the girls enjoy going. They get to look at lizards, birds, turtles. But on the way Saige started SCREAMING and holding her hands out to me saying "hold me. Get me out" over and over. She was nuts. I started thinking about her as an infant and when she screamed all the time. She then started gagging in the car. I tried calming her down by talking to her but she was having none of it. THen she threw up a little. I thought "see thats what happens when you scream and cry" I didn't say it but thought it. Then when we pulled into Petco she threw up everywhere. Chunks. Sick. Reese threw her own fit because it smelled. It did. I got Reese out of the car and had her stand on the curb (by the store) and got Saige changed. I had some towels from swim lessons still in the car and cleaned her up. She was wearing a diaper and new t-shirt. We went in to grab the food and left FAST!

I got her back in the car and didn't drive very far before the poor thing started throwing up again. It was a lot. I started gagging and Reese was covering her mouth and nose (smart girl). I cleaned saige up again as best I could, layed a towel on her and hurried home. She fell asleep on the way home...in vomit :( She was so sick. We took a quick bath and went to bed. As I was rocking her she said "please put me in bed" and out she was.

Luckily it was a bad bug and was gone fast.

Swim lessons

We started swim lessons this week. I was VERY nervous for Reese to start lessons. She developed this fear of the water last year. Nothing we did made a difference. She fell in a hot tub with me right there. I turned around for 5 seconds and turned back and my sweet girl was floating face down in the water. She was already a little fearful of getting in the water (deep-she would play in the shallow end) so nearly drowning didn't help. She wasn't under for long and she didn't cough, choke or anything. But this summer we decided she needed some lessons.

When we started it was Saige, Reese and another little girl. While the teacher was telling them what to do Saige was getting up walking around, checking out toys, getting in the hot tub. I'm sure the teacher was thrilled. Reese was playing with the toys and basicly just not listening. The other child of course was listening LOL!! But the teacher started taking one child at a time in the water and having them kick. Reese would scoot far back each time. Finally the teacher tricked her with a toy and had Reese come out. At first she tried to cling to the teacher and throw her arms around her neck. Then she wouldn't relax her legs. They looked like they were in a fetal position the entire time.

BUT by the end of the lesson the coach had Reese kicking AND putting her face ALL the way under the water. The teacher even said how far she came in one lesson. I was very proud of her but more importantly Reese was proud of herself.

We've had some sick kiddos so the lessons were 2 short so we'll make them up in a few weeks. I'm going to sneak a picture of my big girl.
