Saige had meet the teacher this week. She is very excited and had a great time getting to play with her friends and see her classroom. I've taken a part time job at her school and let me tell ya, working part time, being a mommy, and adjusting to kindergarten have sort of rocked my world this week. But Saige loves me being there and is such a helper. Love this silly thing.

Saige got to have a little girly day too. Lunch, toes, cupcakes.

After they just chatted at the drying station like two little ladies.

 

We treated them to these cupcakes. Seriously SO good!!!

Start to Kindergarten

We did Reese's favorite meal and I set the table up for a back to school dinner. We prayed for Reese and ate some yummy food. Salad, cheese ravioli, and fruit. Reese had three bowls full. We got her bathed, read three back to school books and ready for bed. She said her tummy felt funny. :)

 

In the morning I made her pancakes with bananas. We got dressed and at her request we curled her hair. She looked so big and so cute.

 

 

Right before we were leaving I let her sit on the couch and watch tv. After a couple of minutes she says "mommy" looking at me with BIG sad eyes and said "I don't want to go to kindergarten." We tried a pep talk but tears soon followed. Aaron tried to step in and she ran from him when we went to get her in the car. She cried all the way (five minutes) to school. Reese hopped from side to side when we tried to get her out. It was the saddest thing ever. I felt so bad for her. We got her settled down some on the walk to school. Inside the classroom she seemed ok, not happy but ok. I took a couple of pictures and left.

 

 

We have had some stories this week and I think my heart is still a little tender with having her gone all day. After four days she finally came home and said she loved it. Kindergarten is truly a transition for our whole family. I'm very happy our first weekend is coming.

 

Girls day!

A friend and I took our older girls to a "girly day" before school starts. We went to Sweet N Sassy and got very pampered. The girls had NO idea where we were going so it was a big surprise. This is them in the parking lot trying to figure it out.

 

 

 

 

We had a to wait for a few minutes so we played in their merchandise before going.

 

 

Their stylist was named Ms. Rainbow and was decked ALL out. I think Reese was a tad scared at first but quickly warmed up to her. She washed their hair with strawberry shampoo (Claire chose chocolate). The girls got a little trim and she styled it for them. She sprayed these sweet things down with hairspray, glitter, and perfume. They could NOT stop looking at themselves in the mirror.

Next was their pedi. Zebra toes and a toe ring too. They picked cotton candy lotion for their legs.

The girls kept saying what's next... well, a mani of course. The girls got a fancy ring and fun glitter stamps on their face.

 

Then we took the girls to eat a cupcake.

 

We had a great day pampering this little blessing.

They had a blast and now they are all shiny and ready for school. It was so much fun getting to spend the day with these sweet babies.

Family Fun

We took the girls to a surprise family fun night at ITZ after meet the teacher. It was fun just hanging out as a family and playing games. I have an imagine of R&S high up on a ride laughing their heads off burned into my heart. I smiled so much that my cheeks hurt watching them. Such simple joy. It's contagious. I loved it. I loved watching Aaron play games with the girls too. The games at a place like that are much more in his element than mine so he was helping them, guiding them and just having fun. We left with two tiny unicorns, fake money and some candy from their winnings. Such a fun night!

 

 

 

 

 

Meet the teacher

 

We have shopped for clothes, shoes, water bottles, backpacks, lunch kits, even groceries. We have talked about school and been prepared in every way but today it became very real. She picked a new outfit for meet the teacher but when we got to the school she whispered that she was nervous and a little shy. She held my hand so tight I thought I'd lose a finger. But when we walked into the room she found her seat and said hi to her teacher and she seemed to relax. She became excited and before we left she announced that she wasn't shy anymore and wanted to go to kindergarten. (yay!)

 

Now, I've been ok with it for the most part. I've been excited to think about how much she is going to learn and do and experience. But tonight I'm not going to lie, I'm a little sad. It sure is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

 

 

 

Just my girls

We had a pretty good amount of sickness in late June. I remember one set of it was this weird virus with sores in their throats that looked a lot like strep but wasn't. I can't even remember how it all went down but poor Saige got the worst of it. She had a tummy bug (I'll spare you the details but one part includes holding her hair back in a parking lot in front of people. fun) that lasted and lasted and lasted. She gave us a little scare with her pale face and not drinking or pottying. All this thing did was sleep. But thankfully after a while it went away and we were back to normal. I think we stayed home for like 2 weeks though letting some of this run through our house. We got a LOT of bugs this summer.

 

 

 

We had a wet summer too. After last summer we welcomed every single drop. I taught the girls the importance of playing in the rain and making mud pies. :)

 

 

 

 

I put Reese in a reading class this summer. She went Monday afternoons and while she was there Saige and I hung out. We got Sonic drinks, listened to music, and sometimes went to the store.

 

And Reese and I went on a sweet little date one evening. I let her pick ANY place she wanted. McDonalds was her choice. :) We then hit the outlets for some window shopping and then ice cream and a movie at home. Saige was spending the night away so I got Reese all to myself. She is so sweet and loves talking. She must of asked me a hundred and one questions and told me endless stories. I love her heart. She is so kind and creative. I need to do more one on ones with them.

 

 

I find these gems on my phone from time to time. Love it.

 

 

We have had some fun Wii dance nights around here.

 

 

And we just signed these sweet girls up for gymnastics. I let them buy a fancy leotard since we aren't buying dance shoes, bag, tights, costumes, recital fees, or pictures. Win win! bring on the balance beam!
