Afternoon bike ride

I wanted to get us out of the house for some fresh air. I walked the dogs while the girls rode their bikes. I made them ride on the side walk for safety reasons. Saige tried to break this rule no less than 10 times. She kept riding her bike into the street and then it would take a few minutes to get her back on the side walk. :) Reese, Hannah and Allie did a lot of waiting. So patient.

Then we were crossing the street and noticed a small (but scary snake). I thought it was (newly) dead and proceeded to poke it with a stick. I flipped it on it's back and the snake opened it's mouth. Poor Reese jumped ten feet and screamed! Saige didn't even blink. She wanted to get closer, and wanted to study it more. She is so brave and adventurous.

Then our little bike ride got more exciting when two cars nearly hit each other and honked. The girls got a little lesson in road rage. Fun fun!!

It took us about 35 minutes to go around one block in our neighborhood. Always exciting at the denune household. Reese went to bed still talking about the snake. It made a big impression with her.

lazy days

Not sure if this counts as a "lazy day" but the other day I had that "Oh my gosh my baby is going to kindergarten" moment where you realize that life as you know it won't be the same ever ever again. I mean, I've KNOWN this was coming but it was that griping, lump in your throat, moment that sort of makes you want to throw up. Not only will our days be different with a set schedule (that I didn't set) but knowing my sweet first born will be gone from here mama for hours on end. Well, lets just say that I needed a mommy/daughter(s) day. We went to gymnastics and then headed off to one of our favorite places-the zoo. It was a pretty ugly day. Lots of clouds, windy and thick feeling in the air. But it was wonderful. There was maybe 10 people in the whole place and we were able to really watch the animals without worrying about the person behind us. We didn't hurry or worry about anything else. We got to see a lot of animals being really active today which is always something the girls LOVE! Saige's favorite was the sea lions. After watching them Reese wanted to go home to take a bath to pretend to be a sea lion. Reese's favorite is the big cats. We saw a mountain lion get really close to the glass and jump at us. FUN!!!

Then we headed to Aaron's restaurant for a sweet treat. The girls KILLED this brownie. I've taught them well. The restaurant was a little slow so the girls got to visit with their daddy a lot more. They got to talk on the microphone and pretend behind the host station.

All in all we had a wonderful day. I'm soaking up these last few months of being able to come and go at free will without worrying about missing school. Life sure is about to change for all of us. Love these girls.

She dresses herself

JUST incase anyone ever really wondered, yes, in fact she DOES dress herself. If I pick it out on a certain day she always always finds a way to add her own style to it by throwing on shoes that don't go, a headband WITH the bow etc. Things like that. I love her spunky style. She gets LOTS of sweet mommy looks that say been there. It's a fun phase and I'm thankful I'm OK with her dressing herself. Love her!!

Family christmas fun

The girls spent the day with their Nana and Papaw in December. While over there they took some pictures for a frame that Amber made for Nana. I never got around to blogging this so here it is :)

Field Trip-Build a bear

Reese has a field trip with her class at school. They went to build a bear at the mall. They made a class bear named Tommy. They dressed him, had lunch in the food court and got a cookie. They were suppose to go to a local park for a picnic and play but it POURED all day long so we opted for the kid playground. The kids enjoyed the day. Eventually "Tommy" is suppose to come home with each child for some weekend fun. We are to write about his adventures in a journal. Reese is still waiting for her turn.

Bike rider

Aaron is riding in the MS 150 coming in a few months. He has worked really hard. There is so much that has to go into the ride. You have to get a decent bike. We started with an academy bike but it wasn't cutting it so we returned it (thank God they let us) and got a more expensive, better bike. Aaron was much happier with that. THen there is rain gear, cold gear, etc. He rides a lot and has training rides every weekend. We have gone to one, another was rained out much to our disappointment (they were going to have puppies at it! Not sure why but hey, we love dogs!) He has another one coming up and then the real deal! All this riding has really strengthened his friendships with the guys in our group. But in addition to the training he has to raise money. This made me a little nervous because no one likes to ask others for money. But Aaron has done really well. He is suppose to raise 400 and is already at 600 with a few months to go. He has guest from the restaurant, servers, friends and family all giving their support. Awesome. Here are a few photo's from a race he did.

We can't wait until he crosses the finish line of 150 miles!!!! So proud of you Aaron/Daddy!

My artist

Reese loves to color, draw, and create things. If she is ever bored she just pulls out paper, coloring books, crayons and gets busy. A while back she made a pretty cool reindeer out of construction paper and glue sticks. She was trying to re-create her masterpiece this day. When it wasn't turning out like she wanted she sighed big, pushed her paper away and said "this isn't turning out like I hoped." She sounded so grown up and frustrated. It was both cute and a little sad. We put our things away and moved on to something else. Another day Reese and I were working on self portrait's. This was her first attempt. She was pretty proud but did comment that her neck was a little long. She made three more before she got it like she wanted. Perfectionist??

I really need to start framing some of her art. She is so good (or at least I think so...Moms ARE SUPPOSE to be the biggest fan!)
