Galveston Get Away

My sister and I decided going on a little vacation to Galveston would be fun. We rented a condo in Pointe West for three nights. This was the first "REAL" vacation we've ever taken the girls on. We went to San Antonio when Saige was 12 weeks old and haven't been anywhere since. She was a difficult sleeper and with both girls being little, napping we honestly didn't see the point. But both are now bigger and can handle it better.

Our first day there we went to Moody Gardens. We got the day passes and had a blast. We started out at the 4D Dora IMAX. It was the kind that sprayed you with a water mist when Dora went through a waterfall and you could feel the wind when they were swinging on ropes.

Then we headed over to the rain forest pyramid. They had new animals to see. Some were running around FREE! They had these two monkey's (not sure on the type) but they would run on the railings right by us. We asked if they would bite and the lady said yes. We couldn't believe they had them running around like that.

We also got to see the butterflies. Aaron managed to catch one and let it walk on him and from then on Reese became obsessed with doing the same. She was so sad when she couldn't do it.

We then went down to the aquarium they have. The girls loved seeing all the fish, penguins and seals.

We then went over to the dinosaur tent they have. I had no idea that was ever there!! Reese and Saige went in but were a little scared at first. Saige was ok until I took her out of her stroller for a picture and then she got really scared. I'm the mean mom who thought it was funny and made her take a picture. Reese was fine with it all. She has never been scared of this kind of stuff, but Saige ALWAYS has been. Bless her heart! They were pretty big.

And we finished our Moody Gardens day off with the boat ride. I've always wanted to go on that boat and we finally did.

We then went to check into our condo, ran to walmart and got all settled in. We went to the pool and swam and came back for dinner at the condo. This was our view at the end of the night.

*I almost forgot to mention that night about 930 both girls had fallen asleep on the couch and aaron, kara and I were playing a game. We heard this really loud noise outside that sounded like kids screaming. I thought "Oh no! We better tell them to hush because if they wake my babies it's on!" Kara opens the door to see what was going on and sure enough, there was a raccoon outside the door screaming. She said it was smaller and looked very mad. She quickly shut the door but me being super noisy wanted to see for myself. I opened the door a tiny tiny bit and that thing was right at my toes. I didn't see much of him. Just enough fur to know that there was a wild animal about to enter our condo. We found out the next day that the thing was running into walls and totally freaking out. There was blood on the walls too-eww! The rest of the trip we were a little scared to come out of the elevator in fear that the coon would get us. Aaron even brought his golf club up one night to help protect us. ha!!

VBS

The girls are going to VBS this week for the first time ever. I told them it was Vacation Bible School and Reese was pretty excited. She always envisions the people giving her her own bible, even though she owns four different ones? I think she expects an adult bible study since she has seen me doing them and having one here. Either way it always makes me smile when she makes comments like that.

Yesterday they learned that God knows them, today it was God listens to me. They received a prayer journal and a picture of themselves framed. I love it! I noticed Reese's prayer journal had a LOT of pictures already drawn and colored in it so I started to talk about what a prayer journal is. I don't use mine enough so she's probably never heard of one...or maybe seen one? oops! Anyway, I gave a few examples of how we could use this and talked about what it is.

I then said "Reese be thinking of someone or something we can pray about later tonight and we'll write it in your new prayer journal" She looks right at me with a very serious look and says "Kangaroo's!!!"

:) Looks like we'll be praying for kangaroo's tonight. Love love love this age!!

Another VBS update:
We were listening to that worship song "sing sing sing" in the car from the girls cd I bought them. Both girls had their hands raised and I heard one of them said "you hold them up like this to Jesus when you sing" I think my heart about swelled three times it's size. I asked them where they heard that and they said the at VBS!! I think I smiled all the way home. Precious!

Happy Father's Day

I'm such a blessed girl. I grew up with a Daddy that took time to build forts, take us to our favorite place for dinner and was ALWAYS around when we needed to talk or anything else. Even though he wasn't there to tuck us in every night he was always a short phone call or drive away. Growing up that man was literally my rock. We are so similar and the relationship and bond we share is something I'll always cherish. He is the BEST father a girl could ask for. I have so many memories I'll always keep with me forever and ones I can't wait to share with my sweet girls.

But, I've been so blessed to find a man that is not only a great husband but a wonderful father. He loves those girls so much and would stop and do just about anything for them. He never loses his patience with them and is always up for doll playing, animal acting and just being plain silly. Right now they don't quite understand just how great they've got it but one day they will. Sadly, they will see that not all dads are like theirs.

We love you Aaron Denune! THanks for being the best daddy for these sweet girls!

Reese's Dance Recital

Well the big day finally came! Reese has been waiting and waiting for her day to dance on the "big stage." We went to get her hair done (best 10.00 I ever spent!) and went to the high school. She did a WONDERFUL job! I was afraid she would just stand there and stare off at all the people but she didn't. She remembered her dance and did her thing! We were so proud of her! She had two dances. Her ballet was to a Disney song and her tap was to Elvis Nothing But a Hound Dog! Precious!

Here are some youtube links to her rehearsal practice of her dances.

Swim lessons

The girls took swim lessons last week at a local place and then all this week with a private person. Last week was honestly a waste. Reese was already swimming underwater short distances but had trouble with knowing when/how to come up for air. I was hoping her instructor at the local place would help with that. She did a TINY bit but nothing over the top. Saige's lessons were a complete and total waste. She had three instructors in 4 lessons. They did not teach her ONE thing. The first day or so I thought it was going to be good but after the 4th day I changed my mind.

But this week has been great!! The private person at a friends pool was huge difference. She had Reese blowing bubbles underwater to help w/ breathing and had her swimming all around the pool! Awesome!

And with Saige, she didn't like putting her face under or wearing goggles at first but by day 3 she had her going UNDERwater swimming VERY short distances! AMAZING! I was sad they ended because the girls were/are learning so much and were having a blast! Can't believe how big my sweet babies are getting. Time flies!

T-ball Reese

We had our last game today. It was SO hot! When we started Reese really enjoyed it. She would get a little upset if she wouldn't catch the ball and once she got knocked down pretty hard by a boy going after the ball. As the season went on she seemed to like it less and less. One game she hit the ball (a great hit too!) and she walked ...WALKED to first base dragging her bat. Oh lovely! One or maybe a few but who's counting, she would chew on her glove and put it over her face. hahhahaha!

She often looked at ants and kicked the dirt. Today she had a great game though. Two awesome hits, ran really fast and went after the ball every time. She's currently napping from being so tired!

Later we had a really great t-ball party at a nearby restaurant that had GREAT food and a lot of games for the kids (and dads!).

She got a cupcake and a trophy! Very proud of our little t-ball star!

T ball-Saige

Today was our last game for t-ball. When we first started Saige wasn't sure of the whole thing. She would often pout and come sit on my lap. One game she refused to do anything. It sure made things interesting. :) But the last couple of games she has participated. I'm not sure if she really liked it or not but she would try and catch the ball, run the bases and hit the ball. Today at her last game she ran every base with the kids batting. We all got a big laugh of out that one.
