Rest

I've been a tad busy lately, playing with friends, cooking, running, dentist, birthday parties etc. This week my goal was to chill a little. Be at home more and just hang out. All that running around has left me tired and a little stressed out.

This week at community group our bible verse was Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I give you rest.

Hmmm... Random? I doubt it!

Anyway, our first day of hanging out was a success! Sort of!

I had a very large ice chest in the house from a freezer meal exchange. I was in the kitchen and I hear the girls playing up front. Next thing I hear is mommy mommy come get me. It sounded muted almost. I start calling for saige and Reese says, " I put her in jail" I then thought of the ice chest! Yes, Reese locked saige in the ice chest!!!!! Safe huh?

Later on Reese goes outside to water my bushes. Hannah our dog goes out w her. She was recently groomed...60.00! Next thing I know reese is at the back door knocking to come in and a very wet, big dog follows her. Reese soaked the dog with water. Did I mention we just had her groomed?

And Later this was what my front room looked like.

-honestly though, we had a wonderful day! I was so happy and grateful all day for some "quiet" time at home! These girls are busy busy but such a joy! We ended our day with dancing with the stars, the girls dancing, a chapter book, and a bible story. Loved it!!!!!!

stories

Reese-

Tonight we made mini apple pies and chicken pot pie. I'm pretending that it isn't in the 90s and hot but fall... sigh...

So tonight
Reese says "this apple pie is so good."
Me, "yes, it's heaven"
Reese, "Oh mommy do you think God will give us apple pie every day for breakfast in heaven?"

Not sure but I would like to think so!

Saige,
She doesn't like it when Aaron has his shirt off. She refers to anything under the shirt as boobs. :) When Saige wakes up crying at night, Aaron walks in w/o a shirt and she screams "I don't like your boobs." But last night at the table she says "Daddy I only like your boobs at the beach. I like beach boobs."

She was meaning to say that she is ok with him holding her at the beach w/o a shirt but not at any other time!

Oh please oh please someone tell me she doesn't say these things at school or church. hahaha

Reese...
Reese comes home from preschool VERY tired. Not sure if it's the extra hour that she's there or the things they do but this baby is wiped out come 2:00. When I start asking about her day she says "not now mommy, I want goldfish and watch tv." I let her rest and usually hope I can dig more out later. I usually can.

But today Aimee called me and asked if Reese informed her that they were in a class play. Um no! And then says do you know what part she played in Adam and Eve. I instantly thought she must of been Eve. Aimee shouts God! Reese played God! How on earth did she leave that out. "Hey Reese, what did you do at school?" And I heard "nothing"...????

I asked her and she tells me she stood on a chair so she could watch them just like God watched them. Later she told me what she said. Oh what I would have given to watch! (Judah was Adam and I'm sure priceless!)

Happy 5th Birthday to Reese!

I know every year I say this and probably continue every year, but how in the world do I have a FIVE year old?!?!?! Every detail of her birth is so fresh in my mind. Her tiny hands, face and the sound of her cry is burned into my brain forever that it feels like it was just yesterday. I never thought I could love another person as much as her. I'm so thankful she has this September birthday because we get an extra year at home before she starts kindergarten. We are trying hard to enjoy these special moments at home before she's gone all day long (sniff sniff).

Reese is one of the sweetest little girls I know. She is patient, talkative, and sweet. How this child is part of me I'll never know! :) Her love for animals is still going strong. She loves playing with stuffed animals, little animals, movies about animals. She hums songs all day and skips instead of walks. She is a joy to be around. Every birthday is always bitter sweet. I love the person she is becoming but sad another year is gone.

We celebrated her birthday by letting her take some friends to Build-A-Bear. She picked a long horn and named it "Longa" :) We had a Rapunzel cake in the food court and rode the carousal. The following day we had our family over for lunch.

Reese is truly a gift from above!

Saige's big girl room

We have had fun doing Saige's big girl room. We aren't finished just yet but here is some of it. Everything we have either found pretty cheap or made, which has been oddly fun for me. Saige has loved the pink owl theme and is very proud of her room. When someone new stops by she has grabbed their hand and says "look at my new room."

Her bed we found at Garden Ridge for 99.00!!! Her bedding was found at Home Goods for 35.00!!! I made (or my mom made and I helped) these letters out of scrapbooking paper and mod podge! I won't mention what I paid for Reese's hand painted letters but these were a fraction of the price.

I made the little bird house on her dresser as well. The dresser was Reese's and had literally fallen apart. My mom put it back together. I swear hand that women some tools and she can fix anything. The gene was not passed down. I found these little wooden birds at Home Goods as well.

This is the little bookshelf that I mod podged with some fabric. It was a little bluer and brighter than I maybe should have done but fun none the less. I made the other birdcage here too. We filled it with books, pictures and things Saige has made. I got the pictures at Target.

This little baby bed my mom made for Reese when she was 2. She doesn't haev the same interest for babies that Saige has so it's in her room. Above her bed I have a wooden wall hanging with a bible verse on it, "All good and perfect things come from above." I bought this before Saige was born but never used it until now. I'd like to make her curtain holder different...maybe with branches from a tree? Not sure how I'm going to do that??

And this is the little birdcage I found at Ross for 10.00 and sprayed it white. Of course my mom hung it for me.

I still want to hang some more things on the walls and add some pictures of Saige to the walls. Maybe a fun funky print chair to the corner. But it's been fun finding different things and finding them pretty cheap. I love how it's coming together.

Nothing new

Mot much to tell. Girls are awesome. We have been so busy lately. We are back in school, Saige has ballet and Reese started gymnastics. I tried to schedule their classes all early so we still have plenty of time to hang out at home, run errands and just be normal...not rushing around from thing to thing. We have been hanging out with some friends, seeing family and just hanging out.

We went to get ice cream a few days before school started up...

The weather has given us a tiny break from the heat (Praise God) but unfortunately the dry air and hot long summer have created fires near us. We have been playing outside some because the cooler air is just so nice but today we stayed inside. There was literally ash falling from the sky, the smell of the fire is really strong and we can see the smoke in the air. It's very strange. But WHEN we did play outside we were in heaven. The girls and I stayed outside for almost two hours yesterday. Such a nice break after LITERALLY the hottest Texas summer in history. Wow!!!!

We said good bye to Roger this past week. I know he's not my dog but he was so loved by our family. The girls were a little sad but they are sure he is in heaven with Boo's (my dad's) cat. Sweet girls!

Reese started gymnastics this week. She was so happy to start something. She did great in her little class. I was pretty impressed at how long she could hold her body up (and straight) on those bars. I'm sure it's called something but I don't know what it's called. :) Maybe Reese can teach me!

I don't know what these two were from. They're on my phone and random I assume. But don't I have the cutest two things ever! Reese's big blue eyes-seriously!! And Saige's sweet smile! The girls are such a blessing. Tonight Reese asked me if God was better than a super hero! And Saige then asked if He was bigger than a giant? Love these sweet girls!
