Reese's Dance Recital

Well the big day finally came! Reese has been waiting and waiting for her day to dance on the "big stage." We went to get her hair done (best 10.00 I ever spent!) and went to the high school. She did a WONDERFUL job! I was afraid she would just stand there and stare off at all the people but she didn't. She remembered her dance and did her thing! We were so proud of her! She had two dances. Her ballet was to a Disney song and her tap was to Elvis Nothing But a Hound Dog! Precious!

Here are some youtube links to her rehearsal practice of her dances.

Swim lessons

The girls took swim lessons last week at a local place and then all this week with a private person. Last week was honestly a waste. Reese was already swimming underwater short distances but had trouble with knowing when/how to come up for air. I was hoping her instructor at the local place would help with that. She did a TINY bit but nothing over the top. Saige's lessons were a complete and total waste. She had three instructors in 4 lessons. They did not teach her ONE thing. The first day or so I thought it was going to be good but after the 4th day I changed my mind.

But this week has been great!! The private person at a friends pool was huge difference. She had Reese blowing bubbles underwater to help w/ breathing and had her swimming all around the pool! Awesome!

And with Saige, she didn't like putting her face under or wearing goggles at first but by day 3 she had her going UNDERwater swimming VERY short distances! AMAZING! I was sad they ended because the girls were/are learning so much and were having a blast! Can't believe how big my sweet babies are getting. Time flies!

T-ball Reese

We had our last game today. It was SO hot! When we started Reese really enjoyed it. She would get a little upset if she wouldn't catch the ball and once she got knocked down pretty hard by a boy going after the ball. As the season went on she seemed to like it less and less. One game she hit the ball (a great hit too!) and she walked ...WALKED to first base dragging her bat. Oh lovely! One or maybe a few but who's counting, she would chew on her glove and put it over her face. hahhahaha!

She often looked at ants and kicked the dirt. Today she had a great game though. Two awesome hits, ran really fast and went after the ball every time. She's currently napping from being so tired!

Later we had a really great t-ball party at a nearby restaurant that had GREAT food and a lot of games for the kids (and dads!).

She got a cupcake and a trophy! Very proud of our little t-ball star!

T ball-Saige

Today was our last game for t-ball. When we first started Saige wasn't sure of the whole thing. She would often pout and come sit on my lap. One game she refused to do anything. It sure made things interesting. :) But the last couple of games she has participated. I'm not sure if she really liked it or not but she would try and catch the ball, run the bases and hit the ball. Today at her last game she ran every base with the kids batting. We all got a big laugh of out that one.

Headbands

I'm sad to say (or happy? Not sure) that we have officially outgrown bows. I can usually talk the girls into wearing one if I really REALLY want them to but they don't want them anymore. Reese likes braids and Saige loves headbands. Even if I talk Saige into a bow she throws a headband on with it. She clearly has her own style going on. This sweet little fashionista has even taken to wearing them to bed. Isn't she the sweetest!!!

I love you

I started making the sign language symbol for "I love you" to Reese a while back. I thought it would be a cute little thing we could do together. She has taken to the "I love you" sign and loves doing it to others. When I say others, I mean pretty much every person she comes into contact with. She will shout "Wait wait!!" and wave her little hand in their face and say "I love you!" We have told the girls that the bible says we love all people and she does. :) We talked about that Jesus loves all people and that we are called to love ALL people, even when they are mean to us etc and boy does she ever love some people! It is rather awkward when she does it to people we don't know that well. They usually shoot me a look and grin. It is cute but then they do it back and sometimes say "I love you too!" She does it to her friends, my friends, the daddy's of friends, people at church, the store, swim lessons and the random kids she bonds with at Chick-fil-a. Love this sweet girl.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another John 13:34-35

Summer so far

The girls have been out of school for two weeks. We have had so much fun so far! I do enjoy having a little break every now and then do go shopping, work out or just watch tv but I really love not being on a schedule and having them home. We have played with friends and been to Noah's Ark pool twice and were able to play at a friends big blow up slide. We have officially started swim lessons but have a solid 8 days of that and we're on day 1. :) But so far so good! I think Reese will be swimming great by the end but Saige might need another year. We'll see though, she always surprises me. We are finishing up t-ball and have a big dance recital coming up. But mostly we're enjoying playing in our backyard and home. A neighbor gave Reese a lot of Little's Pet Shop toys and she is in heaven. Even Saige loves them.
