Our luck has run out

We had a good run without the girls needing antibiotics. About two weeks ago Reese came down with a fever. I didn't run out to the doctor right away because its NEVER anything. After three days of a fever of 101 we went in. Sure enough, an ear infection. My poor girl got to the doctor and started complaining of her ear and he said it was pretty bad. You could see it in her eyes too. After 4 years and 5 months Reese got her first dose of the pink stuff. I'd say that is VERY VERY lucky!!


Saige also had never had anything beyond motrin. Today I did a little race down town and the girls stayed with their Nana. Poor Saige came down with a fever. It didn't bother me too bad. They gave her motrin and I assumed it was probably a fever virus. In the back of my mind I kept thinking "hope its not the flu" because everyone and their dog seems to have it. She woke up burning hot and threw up everywhere. Aaron is the BEST because he always cleans it up-carpet, sheets, hair, clothes...he did it. I took Saige to urgent care to see if it was the flu. They tested her for strep and the flu. The came in and looked at her ears and said she has an ear infection, then said the strep was positive. He said the flu was negative but then said "no its positive". Not sure which it is but reguardless I have one sick girl and she is getting some antibiotics. Fun stuff. She went almost 3 years without anything too! I don't know how we got so lucky but its over now. LOL!

And please pray that Reese, me, Aaron, Kara, Amber, her girls, Nana and Papaw all stay flu/strep free.

Valentines Playdate Fun!

Today we met Aimee and her crew at the park. She invited us and brought cupcakes to decorate and a little valentines for the girls. She asked Judah who is favorite girl was and he answered Annie but she asked him which friend that was a girl and he answered Reese.








Reese was pretending to be a dog-as usual. And of course this is how dogs eat cupcakes.






After we played, ate, did the cupcakes the kids did a show for us. They each took turns singing songs. Reese ended doing a little dance with hers and made up most of her songs. HA!

Valentines

This is the Valentines box that Reese made for her school party. (I found the idea online but she glued everything down and wrote her name)




I am so bad about remembering my camera for the school events this year. I took this picture before their class party but then left the camera. In my defense, our pipes totally froze that morning AND I'm BOTH of the girls room mom so I was frazzled to say the least. Thankfully the pipes defrosted on their own. Also, I will never sign up for room mom again. It is not my thing at all. :)



**A fun fact about this picture. It was freezing this morning and I wanted Reese to wear jeans to keep her warm. She threw a mammoth fit this morning. She said her outfit was not beautiful enough. Umm, when did we arrive at this phase? She is FOUR! I'm afraid it is only going to get worse.

Regardless the girls had fun at their party. I hopped back and forth between Saige's class and Reese's class. Both girls had ice cream Sundays, a small craft and some candy. We were on major sugar overload that seemed to interrupt naps AND night time sleep. HA! But much fun! I love their school.




Friday night we went with Aunt KK to eat dinner at Aaron's restaurant. This time of year is hard on us all. Aaron has to put a lot of hours at the restaurant and we just miss him. I decided to start taking them up there for a visit and some yummy food. Saige was in a horrible mood at first. She cried some in the car on the way up, screamed in the restaurant (that was full of all adult and not one child) because Kara sat by her and wanted me to hold her the entire time. After her food came (and she ate a TON) she was happy. Her entire mood just change (praise God) and she was a sweet girl. We decided that she must of been starving. Sometimes I wish it was acceptable for me to scream and throw a fit when I'm hungry. :)



Aaron always gets a big lobster out and plays with it for the girls. They love it. I don't know why. haha. Tonight I captured it. And look how big Reese looks. Huge :( shes so sweet and pretty. And Saige still seems little to me but I know shes not.




Then we went to the Dessert Gallery nearby. It was so yummy. Reese was thrilled to pick out which cupcake she wanted. She was very specific. Saige wanted a decorated cookie. We tried to talk her out of it but she wanted a cookie. THEN, I got my cupcake and of course she wanted mine. I took about half but it was so good.

We had a great little Valentines Day weekend!

Saige has a big girl bed!!!

We finally finally finally got that girl out of her crib. She was beyond excited! I guess she should be since she'll be three in May. haha. We got her the cutest bedding at Home Goods for a steal! It is a very girly owl/bird quilt. It is exactly what I've wanted for her. I have some fun ideas on decore and still finishing touches but that will take a while.


When we started taking her crib apart she kissed it good bye. When we started putting her bed together she kept saying "i'm so happy, I'm so happy!!" How precious is that! As soon as we put it together she jumped right in and got under the covers.






Hopefully her first night in her bed will go well! HA!!!!

Rosa In Haiti

A few weeks ago I felt led to sponsor a child from Compassion International. I've heard a lot of great things about it and the kiddos faces melted my heart. I looked over the faces of all the children in need and picked Rosa. She lives in Haiti and is five years old. She enjoys playing hide-n-seek, playing dolls and jumping rope.



We have been talking about her since we signed up to be her sponsor. I've explained to the girls that she lives in a part of the world that doesn't have as much as we do here in America. I told them that we will be sending our money to her for food, education, clothing, health needs and for her to learn about Jesus.

The girls have been so sweet and tender hearted as we pray for this sweet child. They tell me often that she can have their clothes (Saige offered to give Rosa her favorite pair of boots! LOL) and their toys and they will share their food with her. They find change around the house and save it for her. I love this and pray it continues as they get older. We have included her in our nightly prayers as well.

We just received our very first packet from Compassion International explaining what we will do next. We get to send her a family picture, some basic information about us and a short letter that the staff will translate for Rosa. I'm going to have the girls color her pictures from time to time as well so they feel like they are doing something for her.

I'm praying that this journey is meaningful to Rosa and to our family. That her life is changed and impacted through this experience but more importantly I'm praying that she comes to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior. I'm praying that our life is changed from this as well. That we are humbled and serving Christ.

I love them!

Saige!!!!

We decided to change our discipline routine up. In doing so there has been a lot less frustration on my end and a lot less tears on Saige's side. To be honest, things have been wonderful. We're doing zero tolerance with her behavior. Shes a very smart cookie and knows how to throw a fit. Its simply amazing how fast she can go from happy to completely miserable. And the tears will flow too!! But now, when she does something (throws a bowl, hits her sister, tells me no) she goes straight to time out. I don't know why it has made such a difference but it has! When she is whining I ask her to use "big girl words" and she does. Seriously, shes like a different kid! Still busy but is starting to really listen! YAY!!

Her teachers even noticed. One day she got a "smile report" (a pink piece of paper saying how great she did) and the next they verbally told me how sweet she has been and how she says "please and thank you" for everything. That will make Daddy (AKA Manners Police) very happy!

The rocking chair REALLY broke two nights ago. I was rocking her and the chair completely fell apart. But when I put her to bed the first night without her chair she just stood in its spot and said "I'm standing here because I'm really sad." Then at bed time she will say "I don't want to go to bed because I want you to rock me." Tonight I bought her new bedding and she loved it so much she wanted to use one of her pillows (a decorative one). I let her because she wasn't sad and was ok going to bed.

A funny note, I was telling Nana about her new bedding and she grabbed her pillow and put the phone to it and said "see Nana see"! Shes very proud of it! NOW we need to get her a bed!

We recently started sponsoring a little girl from Haiti named Rosa. We have her picture and we are praying for her a lot. Reese has started finding money around the house to send to her. Now Saige is doing it too. Tonight we prayed for her and Saige looked at me and said "Mommy can we send Rosa my boots and my toys" I love her compassionate sweet heart! Please Lord let this continue!

Last but not least Saige patted my bottom tonight and called me a donut butt! I guess my "donut butt" needs to start running again. Sigh...
