Stuff

We are officially weaning Reese of the paci. I always hated seeing older kids with paci's. They are for babies but of course my now 3 year old is addicted to hers so I'm one of "those" moms :) Whatever.

The reason I'm doing it is her teeth. We had her 3 year check up and our pedi took a peek at her teeth and he could even tell how the paci is affecting her teeth. She has a crossbite and it looks like maybe an open bite as well? We'll have Aunt Amber check that out (and the tongue thrust). Am I paranoid or what?!

I snipped the tip last night and she didn't care at all. That just goes to show its an emotional attachment and not a "NEED". I'm going to slowly continue snipping it and hopefully avoid tears. I was able to get her off the boob so I CAN do this. (pray for us...I'm scared LOL)




Saige is sooooo big and getting so smart. Yesterday we were counting (well Reese and I were) and I was going 1,2,3,4,5 and Shouts 6. Seriously? How did she know 6 came next? I'm sure shes just picking it all up from Reese and me but still?! It seems so crazy.


And she can seriously work it. Sometimes in the middle of the night she would sort of fuss, not a full blown crying but a fuss. Well now she just starts straight out with "Mommy Mommy Mommy Hold you Mommy Hold you". How can anyone resist that?! She is keeping us on our toes.


And speaking of smart...Reese is doing so well with her letters and numbers. She knows almost all the letters. She still gets a few mixed up and shes even starting to learn a few sounds. I'm so proud of her. We are working on writing a TINY bit too. Sometimes she's interested and other times NO way! But I'm trying to show her how to make an "R" which is a little hard if you ask me. hahaa. She also can recognize a good bit of her numbers. I know this is normal for her age but I'm still proud. Shes getting to be such a big girl.

Poor Saige

Poor Saige isn't lasting with pick up for Reese. My "never sleeping" baby is falling asleep to pick up Reese every day. Today I even carried her inside sound asleep to get Reese. I was shocked that she stayed asleep! Hopefully she'll get use to the transition.

Shy Little Reese

Reese was so excited about school. She loves her teachers. Every morning she tells me I'm going to see my teachers and give them a high five, kiss and a hug but when we arrive she just stares at them. I happen to ask them one day how she was doing and her teacher told me she is very happy at school but doesn't speak a word. For some reason this broke my heart. I felt that lump in my throat arrive. I don't know why but I don't want her to be shy. I want her to be strong, outgoing, social-take charge kind of gal. But shes not weird shy...just very slow to warm. Later that day her teacher called me to reassure me that Reese is doing well and that some kids take longer than others to open up. (Have I mentioned how sweet her teacher is)

Well yesterday she called again for an update on Reese's progress (she was doing this to all the parents) and told me that Reese said "I'm here" during roll call today. Its something they have been encouraging the children to do since the first day and Reese did it. YAY! Baby steps!


I also came to the conclusion that we can't change their personalities. God made them this way for a reason. I can just foster who she is. I'm sure the parents of the outgoing, social, talkative children wish they would learn to be patient, take turns and listen. We just can't have it both ways right?! Each child has to learn. :)

Learning

I've decided to stop being a slacker and try to teach my daughter something. To be perfectly honest I get a little bored being home all day doing nothing but laundry and playing dolls. Reese started preschool, well really mothers day out and because of her age shes still in the twos class. In the twos they do a lot social learning along with shapes and colors. Reese already knows her shapes and colors so I feel like focusing on her abc, numbers is what we should be doing. I also decided to start teaching her a bible story each week. I feel like Aaron and I should be the ones to teach her about the Lord and not overly depend on the church, her school etc to do this. Its our job. So I'm doing a letter of the week, number of the week and a bible story.

This week is was Aa, 1, and creation. I'm doing it very simple. We're making a book. I am using most of my print outs and activity ideas from

I only do 3 days a week and its fast and fun. Heres some pictures of our learning.

Music

Saige LOVES music. She will start dancing, bobbing her head and shaking her leg anytime she hears a beat. It melts my heart. When we were in the car this morning ther radio was off and Saige started SINGING a song all by herself. We have a kid cd and we listen to a song called "bubbles" allllll the time. (YES, poor mommy) And Saige started singing some of the words by herself. I asked her if she wanted to listen to the bubble song and she said "Otay" :) I'm going to enroll her into a kindermusik class on a day when Reese is in school.
